Cats and dogs.......

Dogs and cats, mix them with yarn and you have to scream,"scat cat"!!!!!!
Well my family has done it. They have added a dog to the family. A 2 month old puppy. I already have a full grown cat. Which has not grown fond of the puppy yet, coarse it has only been a week. The puppy growls and barks at the cat, and the cat tries to sneak up on the dog. It is a two ring circus around here.
And how does this all relate to yarn Crafting? Well you have guessed it, the dog wants to chase the ball of yarn, and the cat wants to curl-up in it. And I just want to create beautiful things with it. Ah, what is a person to do?

Lazy Days

Creative Hands
I have not been crafting much this summer. I have been lazy enjoying the summer.

I am not going to get much done this month as I will be making my kids school schedule for the year. We have homeschooled all 8 of our children at one time or another. The yougest two have never be to public school. I will be homeschooling an 11th grader, 9th grader, and 5th grader.

Things I am working on are: pot holders, fishnet toy holders, and M & M's. Have gotten a digital so will be posting pictures soon.

Hug your kids and keep your needles flying.

Dangers of School.....

This is what bit my No. 3 son this week as he was doing his science project. Don't worry it is a harmless gardensnake. No. 3 son loves spiders and snakes. Don't worry the snake lives in our back yard garden. He also broke his little finger , but that is another story. Life is never dull when children are around. Posted by Hello

Tigers, Lions, and Bears...Oh! My!

Playing with different stitches

I have been playing around making the diagonal hot pad using different stitches. The off white is stitched in single crochet worked in the back loop. Purple and white is stitched using 1 single in the first stitch and double in the next stitch, repeat, and is done in Sugar and Cream cotton with an I hook. The off white is done in a cotton that I don't know the name of and is not as thick as Sugar and Cream. Also with an I hook. That is why it is smaller.  Posted by Hello

Surprizes

Look at what I recieved from my exchange partner at "Crochet partner' group. It's it wonderfull to recieve things from others. But I think we have more fun in giving. I can't wait to dive into those pillows. Just the colors alone match my new couch that needs pillows. Tea on a cold cloudy day is just so nice. Posted by Hello

Tunisian crochet or Afghan stitch

Here is a picture of what I have been doing this week. I am still learning to Tunisian crochet and used this books instructions (Got at Annie's Attic) on making a sample of a flower with the Afghan stitch. I am suprised at how easy it was to make. I used the crochenit hook that came with the book. Not sure of its size I,J, or K. Or may be bigger. I notice it is not curling like most project do and I think it is do to the larger hook size. Might be because of the Tunisian knit. Don't know. I'm going to play with it some more and make some hot pads with the Tunisian knit. It makes a thick item.  Posted by Hello

Creative Hands
How was your weekend? Mine was a little crazy. Finished Daughter's dress around 9pm Thursday. Grandchildren were running crazy. What do you expect for 6,5,3 year olds. Will put pica up later.
Still working on finishing the fingerling gloves. And my granddaughter wants some too. I thought it was just going to be a boy thing to play star wars with. Guess not.

Tuesday, March 22, 2005

Well I haven't gotten but 1 pair of fingerless gloves done. But, have finished half of my daughter's dress, she has done most of it I only did the hard parts, like the zipper, hem. Will be posting pictures soon. Hope to all done before Thursday afternoon as the rest of the grandkids are coming. Total of only 3 for a couple of days. But, want to focus on them than on sewing. Break time is over and need to get started working on the rest of the dress.  Posted by Hello

Time does fly

Well I didn't get any crocheting, knitting, weaving, or sewing done yesterday. But did get half of the house clean. Need to finish downstairs today and the laundry. And will try to get four pair of fingerless gloves done today. If I do I will post pictures. Want to make the Lamb pillow that is at Lionbrand next week, But I don't know as Hubby may take off work who knows what will be going on? I will be helping my daughter finish her dress. Got to go and get busy.

This is the daughter that I thought would never touch a sewing machine. Like I said before this is the Tomboy of all Tomboys. But here she is sewing away on her Easter Dress. Yes a dress. We have almost finished it. We need to do the hem and wash and iron it. Then next week we have to do the sheer over coat. (Dum Dum Dummmmmm). I am not looking forward to that.  Posted by Hello

Best laid plans..........

Well, I didn't get any crocheting done. But, My daughter and I got started on her dress. Had gotten one of the multi-size patterns. Cut it out according to the measurements of her body. Well as we pined it together it was starting to look to big. So we pinned the whole thing together and realized it was 2 sizes to big. Have to do a lot of taking in. Thank goodness we hadn't sewn it yet.
We haven't cut out the sheer over coat yet. So we hopefully will not have a size problem with that one. Hope to finish the dress tomorrow as she will be gone this weekend. Then have next week to make the sheer overcoat. Have any suggestions or hints on how to work with sheer let me know. Could use all the help we can get.

Need to work on those fingerling gloves people ordered too. But the grandson was sick last night and upchucked. I think he has the stomach flu. Not eating, slight fever, and sleeping a lot. Poor baby he is only three.

Never enough time

I have been busy making fingerless gloves for the boys. Made some for my grandson's birthday, and now have request for all the boys at the party. Plus a mom or two. So I will be busy doing that this week.
Also my youngest daughter has decided to make her Easter Dress. Now if you knew this daughter you would know how astounding this is. This is the Tomgirl of Tomgirls. Never can get her in a dress, let alone do any kind of sewing. So this will have top priority. She has chosen a princess style that is sleeveless with a sheer over coat. The sheer ove coat scares me as I haven't worked with sheer myself. But we will try and hope for the best. We have less than two weeks and have only cut out the princess dress pattern not even have it on the clothe yet. Keep your fingers crossed for us.

Plasticky???

You are Acrylic.
You are Acrylic.
While you are very versatile, your plasticky
countenance can be offputting. You are very
good with children but can become a pill if
left alone with them too long. You are very
flexible but don't give in to manipulation.

Culprit discovered

I have been without a computer for about a week. Thought it was due to a late bill. Not the case at all. Checked all the wires to the computer and phone line. Decided that the DSL box has fried its self.
Never have someone else do what you should do yourself. So I started checking all the wires, everything was hooked up right to the computer. Hmm, check the DSL box and its wires. They look ok , Wait, what is the phone line hooked up to? It is not hooked up to the phone jack the phone is hooked to? This wire goes behind the couch around the end table along the wall behind the TV, it is unhooked from the other phone jack. Now, who could have unhooked it.
The Kids said,"Not Me!! And they don't play behind the TV, they are always in front of it.
OH, "Garfield" That Cat. He is always playing and running behind the TV. Asked him about it. He just looked at me Like, what do you think, Duh, You know that I always run and jump at you from behind the TV. Come on dummy, How else would I get you off the computer to feed me. So now I am back on line. And I think I will put the Cat out. Posted by Hello

I tried to make the fingerless gloves with the Tunisian knit , but as you can seen I didn't do a very good job. Oh, Well, there is always one of my children who love what I do. Of course he is not to thrilled with the lt. purple color.  Posted by Hello

I have neglected my blog

I have been crocheting things but have not posted anything on here about it. I have been working on trying to get my Husband busy setting up my craft area, but he has been working on the reading play room. He has done some painting and putting up book shelves, but I think he has played more with the kids on the foosball game he got.

In the mean time I have been busy working on my one daughter's pillowghan. Also little valentine pins for the kids. Will find some shamrock for St. Patty"s day to make for them also.

My 14 year old son was asking me to make him a manly poncho But he wants some colors I don't have. He likes the ones at Lion Brand. His younger brother wants one too. They want to be Jedi knights. But I don't think I will crochet those as I will be able to make them on the ISM faster.

Yarn disaster

How are you coming along? I was doing great until this
mornings disaster.
The set up:
Have Bible, Devotional book, cup of coffee.
Place:
Living room, couch, end table full of books, off white
carpet, bag full of yarn next to end table.
Action:
Set coffee down reach for Bible and coffee falls to
floor. Goes in bag of yarn (White to dark colors) All
over the carpet. AAAWWWWEEEEE
quick prayer goes up of why, go get towels, white
vinegar, baking soda. Soak up , pour vinegar, soak
more, more vinegar, more soak up, add baking soda, let
set.
Check bag of yarn, the white yarn got it , brown and
light purple. Rinsed them in cool water all seem fine
except the white yarn will have to wait till it dries
and cut off a few yards.
Went on with the bible devotion. Didn't find out the
why of the disaster, (Satan that Devil) but did find
out that: "My flesh and my heart fail, But God is the
strength of my heart and my portion
forever."Psalms73:26
Back to the coffee disaster: looking good for the
carpet. I must let it dry completely before I know for
sure, but I don't think there is going to be a
noticeable stain. God is so GOOOOOOOODDDDDDDD!!!

Up dates coming

Up dates coming soon ! Have been busy , and have had sick kids.

It is finished. My tunisian knit crochet dish clothe turned hot pat is done. I finished it with the 2 rows of mistaken tunisian knit, and 3 rows of basic tunisian crochet. And least I forget a slip stitch all the way around. I did it with and H hook with the sugar and cream cotton made it very thick. If you look close enough you will see that on the 4 or 5 row of tunisian knit I increased a stitch. I will look at it as a learning curve, and strive to do better next time. LOL Posted by Hello

New day New stitch

Was cruising the internet and stopped in at Annies Attic to see what was new. She has great stuff. Checked out the Tunisian Crochet section. I know how to do the basic Tunisian Stitch, But I didn't know how to do the Tunisian Knit Stitch. She has great instructions and Pictures on how to do it at http://www.anniesattic.com/pages/etc.html (Hope I don't hear the cyber police coming after me)
So , Guess what? I now know how to do the Tunisian Knit Stitch. Yeah!!! For me. I am using Sugar and Cream Cotton and making a dish clothe with it.

I have added two more inches to my pillowghan in the last two days as well. I need to change colors on it and I don't want to go out to the garage and get a new color. It is cold outside.

Pillowghan

Afghan
5 1/2 x 4 1/2
219 sts x 108 dc rows
Pillow
18" x 18"
72 sts x 36 dc rows
I started one for one of my Daughters. She wanted all green with smiley face pocket, I don't have enough of the green she wants so we have decided to make it in stripes of all colors. I am thinking of the 8 basic colors going from dark to light. Black, brown, green, blue, purple, red, orange, yellow, and white. Ok so I counted wrong, 9 colors. What color is left out in the basic 8 crayola box? Is it white or purple?
I think I will make the pillow in the green and yellow that she originally wanted. Still have to work out the graph for the smiley face.
I have completed 219 sts x 8 dc rows. That is only 5 1/2' x 4". Long ways yet to go. Great project for watching movies. Like the "Return of the King" extended version.
